Weighmax kitchen scale is one of those scales that fall in many distinguished categories. In case you consider Amazon a decisive judge over the quality of electronic and non-electronic items listed on website, weighmax reviews are unprecedented!
You will admit it:
If a food scale, or for that matter any product, wins that Amazon’s Choice tag and it has more than 1600 sales on Amazon, it simply means that that specific product has won the confidence of both: Amazon and customers on Amazon.
And this is exactly what we have tried to figure out in this review; we have used and closely observed and examined the Weighmax digital kitchen scale at our testing facility. It is because of this testing that not only we were capable of decisively defining the pros and cons of this product, but also of giving it a rating based on our testing criteria.
So:
Without having you wait any further, let us first have a look at the pros and cons of this product:
- Big, transparent and removable bowl makes it easy to weigh bigger quantity and to clean the bowl when needed
- Back-lit LCD display counters poor lighting and container shadow, so you can easily see the weight of the items in the container
- Measuring in pounds, ounces and grams
- 2 AA batteries with a back-lit display – a good feature with no extra battery involved
- Smart tare option to exclude the previous weight and weigh the newly added items
- Easy conversion from one to another weighing unit
- 0.1 Oz Graduation Unit
- Inconsistent measuring of weighed items
- Made of cheap and clumsy plastic
- Likely to break after some time
- Very limited weighing capacity
- No AC Adapter/USB charging option
Well:
Do not let these pros and cons make you jump to the conclusion, because there is more to this scale. Take inconsistent measuring for example; this is not something that we noticed in our exhaustive testing of this product.
Since we made a decision to include the pros and cons reported by Amazon users of the same product, irrespective of whether we share their opinion or not, we included this con.
But there are some other pros and cons too that have not been mentioned and to get a better idea of whether this food weighing scale is suitable for you or not, we are going to take a look at all pros and cons in detail.

Weighmax Kitchen Scale Pros in Detail
Alright:
We don’t know about you, but we always like to take yum before yuck ☺
Let us have a look at the details pros of the Weighmax 28010 – 2KG food scale.
One of the Best Weighing Containers
You know all sorts of weighing containers if you are into losing weight, cooking or baking etc. and thus always needing a kitchen scale at home.
There are kitchen weighing scales that come with no containers, then there are those that come with treys and then there are some more thoughtful companies that offer you plastic or metal made weighing bowls.
Weighmax electronic kitchen scale comes with a transparent and plastic made bowl; rest assured that not only you can always remove this bowl for the cleaning purpose, but you can weigh more items in one go.
Back-lit Display
A baking scale with a weighing bowl is definitely a good one because you can measure more items in one go, but you instantly have something to worry about.
Would the poor lighting in the kitchen or the shadow of the bowl make it difficult for me to see the display and have a look at the measurements?
Well:
Not in case of the Weighmax 2KG kitchen scale; it comes with a blue backlit display that makes it perfectly easy for you to look at the measurements and note them without any hassle.
Measuring Unit Options
Well:
Weighmax food scale is not the best weighing scale in terms of the measuring units, because you can only have three options: pounds, ounces, and grams.
However:
This is something to cheer about. Why? Because most of the time, whether you are into cooking or baking, you need to weigh items in pounds, ounces, and grams only. You don’t have to go to Kilos.
This is the case with the majority and if you fall within the majority, this kitchen scale is obviously for you.
4 AA Batteries
Here’s the deal:
You tell us a single person who uses kitchen scales with AA or AAA batteries, and who never had to worry about the battery draining in the midst of cooking or baking, etc. and we will stop considering this power option a con.
However:
Why do we think that it is somewhat a pro in the case of the Weighmax scale? It is because this is one of few scales that have a very well-lighted back-lit display. Power saving is always a pro.
Smart Tare Option
Whether you want to exclude the weight of a metal tray that you deemed fit to use with Weighmax, while adding ingredients to measure, or you want to exclude the weight of previously adding items to see the exact and accurate weight of newly added items, the smart tare button is your best friend.
Just press it once to wipe the slate clean and you are good to go measuring newly added ingredients without a single ounce from the previous measurement.
Easy Conversion from one to another Weighing Unit
As we have mentioned earlier, the Weighmax food scale comes with limited measuring units e.g. grams, ounces, and pounds, but the situation could be worse if the customer had to go through some complicated process to shift from one to another measuring unit.
Thank God that Weighmax saved them from the unneeded hassle and with a simple push, the customers can go from grams to ounces to pounds.
This might not look like a big deal, but the matter of fact is that we have read many negative Amazon reviews which were negative only because the customers were not able to easily navigate from one to another unit.
Weighmax Food Scale Cons in Detail
We haven’t yet talked of the rating that we issued to this kitchen scale, based on our pre-defined criteria, and which is not very good.
Hang on! Before you jump to the table and see as to how the Weighmax food weighing scale performed on the standards that we set, it is important to have a look at its cons.
Here are the cons of Weighmax 2810 – 2KG electric kitchen scale:
Inconsistent Measuring
As it has been explained that while choosing both: pros and cons, we do not always mention the pros and cons that we observed in our detailed testing, but we also include pros and cons reported by the customers of that particular product, even when we do not observe the same – inconsistent measuring is one of those cons that have been reported by Amazon customers of the product.
A handful number of customers complain that their baking scale gave them wrong measurements every time they tried to weigh the same amount of a particular item. Even the well-known “turn-off, wait, turn-on” fix failed to get this thing to give exact measurements.
Made of Cheap and Clumsy Plastic
Well:
Unfortunately, we can testify on this con because we have also noticed it in our testing of this scale. The plastic used in the container bowl and its pedestal etc. looks cheap and clumsy.
We share this disappointment with Amazon customers of this product, but as some of them reported that plastic tends to break and crack easily, we cannot report the same.
Yet, there are not two opinions about the built quality of this kitchen scale.
Likely to Break
Alright:
So, the product is made of bad quality plastic and perhaps the machine is also not of high quality. But why we used the word “likely”?
It is because, first of all, we admit that the material is bad, but we haven’t faced any performance lags and the product performed normally and secondly, because some Amazon customers of this product reported that it broke after a few weeks or months.
So, we have a consensus that the built quality is not good and it is likely that this scale may break after a month or so.
Very Limited Weighing Capacity
Well:
This is surely a con that all users of this food scale (including us) can agree to. While we have scales that normally weigh as much as 176 ounces, and we have some exceptions that weigh as much as 179 ounces or 282 ounces (MyWeigh KD8000 does offer that much), a weighing scale with merely 70 ounces weighing capacity is no good.
That too when the price range of the Weighmax kitchen scale is roughly within the ambit of high-quality food weighing scales. This is definitely not the best kitchen scale, because it seems to be ignoring as to what is the standard weighing capacity of standard grams weighing scale, and it ignores the daily weighing requirements of different types of customers.
Also:
When talking of weighing capacity one must talk of the units that you can take measurements in. Weighmax only allows you to take food ingredient measurements in grams, ounces, and pounds. While there are others that offer as many as 5 weight measuring unit options.
Another trivial issue, which will still be important to people who pay attention to the details, is the graduation unit. It is the most minimum quantity that a scale may measure.
While most of the scales that we have reviewed so far have a 0.01 ounces graduation unit, this scale has 0.1 which means that it will not measure the smallest quantity of ingredients that many good scales will.
No AC Adapter/USB charging option
Here’s this problem:
You might call us USB charging Nazis, but look around and you will find out that a lot of items that were previously on AA or AAA batteries have now shifted to USB charging.
We’re not asking the weighing scale companies to completely give up on AA batteries; we’re just asking them to have an adapter/USB charging functionality as an alternative option.
First of all, it shows attention to detail when you give your customers more than one option, and secondly, your customers will not have to abandon the cooking or baking in the midst of it, only because the batteries drained out.
Not giving a USB/Adapter charging option is a big con to us and the reason has already been explained. With such an option on a weighing scale, customers may have unlimited weighing as long as the scale is connected to a socket.
Weighmax Scale Reviewing Criteria
Before we go to the results and see how this food scale performed, it is important to know the criteria or standards that we set for testing these kitchen scales and all other that we have tested so far.
- Usability – It means how easy to use and functions-rich a food scale is. A scale with no backlit display or no unit conversion option, for example, will scoreless on this standard.
- Design – It means how well the scale is designed and how it makes it friendly to a consumer. A scale with a very narrow weighing platform will fail in this test.
- Measurement Units – This is about the number of measurements units offered by a scale e.g. grams, ounces, pounds etc.
- Graduation – Graduation unit is the least possible weighing capacity of a scale.
- Maximum Weighing Capacity – It refers to the maximum amount of weight that a scale may correctly show.
- Weight of the Scale – This is all about the weight of a scale; heavy scales are hard to store, pack and move.

Weight of the Scale
(Ounces) |
Overall Rating | |
Weighmax | 8 | 8 | 5 | 0.1 | 70.54 | 23.36 | 4.5 |
As you can see, this scale only scored 4.5 and it is because of limited measurement units, not so good graduation unit and totally inadequate weighing capacity, etc. Yet, if you like the pros of Weighmax 2810 – 2KG electronic kitchen scale, go for it because no scale can get 1600+ positive reviews without any good reason.
