Graduation units are the units in which one may scale the weights of certain items. This is the least possible point of weight and it shows the smallest quantity that a weighing scale may measure.

There is no doubt that while you’re cooking, it happens very rarely that you use something as heavy as a kilogram, there are certain items e.g. meat and milk etc. that you have to add more than a kilogram.

With Etekcity scale, you cannot weight it in KGs, but what you can do is use a converter app and convert your measurements into KGs.

Fast Draining Batteries – No AC Adapter

First of all, Etekcity includes two AAA batteries but they drain out pretty fast not because there is something wrong with batteries, but because of Etekcity’s internal structure and that back-lit display they go empty pretty sooner than you predict.

This issue, could be resolved with having a USB or AC adapter charging option. We already have that option with one or two scales and Etekcity could join the ranks of those scales, but we fail to see why they missed out on chargeable scale option.

Display Shut-off time

Etekcity, like a few top class kitchen scales, introduced a back-lit display that eliminates the chance of taking wrong measurements because of shadow or poor light in the room.

However:

That display is the reason why Etekcity consumes batteries faster than those scales that do not have a back-lit display. To counter this problem, they decided that the display had to have a quick shut-off time and thus, by doing it, they added another point to the cons of this scale.

Many customers have complained of it and we have observed the same in lab testing that this scale gives up on your in the mid of action. So you’re busy cooking and you are adding ingredients to scale and you are removing them from the scale and in the mid of action the screen turns blank, while you have no idea as to measurements and ingredients to be added or removed.

Measurements not available in Kg

Think of roasting a big lamb leg or turkey or something similar to this. Now the recipe that you follow demands you to add or remove ingredients proportionate to the weight of meat. Tare Time

Some customers have complained of this and we have observed the same when we tested this food weighing scale that it takes time to tare. The tare button, once pressed, takes roughly 8 to 10 seconds to tare and that feels annoying while you are in a hurry, guests or customers are waiting for you and you are struggling with your newly bought Etekcity scale.

Scales tend to break

This does not come from our personal experience and since 1 year warranty is there to cover any problem we do not think that this is a fact, but perhaps some customers turned out to be unlucky with Etekcity kitchen scales because they complained of their scales breaking after a few weeks use.
